so it's been a while. sorry...if anyone is still reading, that is. after camp was over i kind of slacked off. but i do feel that i have left off on a terrible note after that last post and must let you know that i had a great, challenging summer at camp. though the last week got way out of hand in terms of keeping control of the kids, that does not ruin in any way my memories of camp and the wonderful kids i met. it did give me a great new appreciation for people who do camp well. and a few of the campers still call/email, which makes me really happy. i hope the Lord gives me some opportunities to keep up with them...
...which may be a real possiblity now that i'm moving to Washington DC!! i am going to be interning with Bread for the World, which is a Christian advocacy group which organizes people to lobby the nation's decision makers to alleviate hunger around the world. i'll be working in the church relations department, and will be specifically talking with Baptist churches about making hunger issues part of their teaching, take part in letter-writing, etc. i'm really excited! this is an awesome opportunity, and i'm amazed to be doing something i really want to be doing right out of school. i'm living with Allyson, who works at the church i interned with this summer, doing after-school programs for inner-city high school kids.
so now i'm at home, trying to get ready for the move! it's pretty crazy and thrilling to think of living up in DC and it also makes me a bit anxious. it really does seem like i'll be starting a completely new life, and i wish i could take all of my friends with me! so i guess this blog will now morph into my "going to the big city" blog, and i'll try to be regular (hehe) about posting with any tid bits along the way. and for all you 'hamers, i'm coming to birmingham the 26th for about 4 or 5 days, and i'm really pumped about spending time with some lovely people again!
hmm, that's all for now. me thanks you for tuning in. love.
