Time for an update, people. The Kaberamaido Church Leaders' Conference went so well! I had such a good time being out in the village with those pastors and other church leaders, and despite my anxieties about all the preparations not being taken care of, things went so smoothly. And the workshops Harriet and I did on youth in the church were really great, as well. We had youth pastors the first day and then grabbed a bunch of youth who were hanging around the area to join the workshop the second day.

There were about 75 pastors and other leaders who participated, plus our committee of folks who helped organize and people who prepared food, etc. The main teaching was on spiritual leadership, then we had other workshops on other topics such as counseling, chronological Biblical storying and HIV/AIDS. The participants were SO grateful for Bible training - something they say they can't get enough of out in the rural areas - and we were able to leave them with some good resources, including a copy of the New Testament in the local language of Kumam.

So thanks so much for your prayers for this conference. I believe the Lord spoke through the teaching, and I pray that He would continue to mold those people into the leaders He's called them to be in their churches and communities.
