Jesus and tomatoes coming soon

this week i went to a kate campbell benefit concert at church, and the title is a song she played. i'd like to say she was serious, but it was actually a satire. still pretty amazing.

fall is here now, i think. driving in maryland today, the sides of the road were splashed with these delightful bright colors. sunlight always looks different to me this time of year - subdued yet intensely bright. in this morning light i sat at the edge of the chesapeake bay and watched a flock of swans shaking off the chill. it was like holy leisure.

i feel a lot more accustomed to being here in DC, though i am still enamored by the grandeur at times. i found out last week that i'm staying at Bread for the World through the end of June, and i'm very excited to be staying. i enjoy working there and feel it's a great privilege. i do still want to find a church and to keep developing meaningful community.

this picture was taken at a park right next to my apartment building, where a bunch of people with things to bang on get together every weekend and...bang...you know, percussion stuff. i would've taken more photos, but my shoot was quickly cut short when a woman next to me told me this sketchy old man next to us had been photographing me "for a long time." lampshade.

long live Wilmore: the band!
