the dinner was the first part of a two-day global leaders forum i've been working on since moving up here. in short, lots of American evangelicals were invited to come talk with evangelicals from the "global south" about issues related with ending hunger, torture, sex trafficking, deadly diseases, global warming, etc. - and how the Church can/should be active in these efforts. the whole experience was really fun for me, and i really enjoyed the insight i gleaned from two speakers from Africa in particular and the leader of my HIV/AIDS workshop. i also got to talk quite a bit with others, like a wonderful pastor from pakistan and the president of an org enabling communities all over the developing world to access clean water (living water international).
here's a link to jim wallis' blog post on the dinner, for those who want to read a bit more masterful blogging on the subject: http://blog.beliefnet.com/godspolitics/2007/10/dinner-with-the-antichrist-by.html

Can you believe it? I was just across the table from the prince of evil, himself, and lived to tell about it!

Yes, and this is where Left Behind unfortunately missed it... no, no, no. Not in its timing of Christ's return or the wars or you know, um, everything else... No, no, you see before the Antichrist can rise up from the UN, the UN has to have relevance... we may be centuries, nay millenia before we reach that point
